The first two weeks of April bring a variety of activities and events of interest to NMC residents:

Wednesday, April 5, 7 PM, College Gardens Elementary School (Media Room): Richard Montgomery Elementary School #5 Boundary Advisory Committee Public Meeting/Feedback

A new public elementary school is being constructed at 332 West Edmondson Drive and is scheduled to open in September 2018. The four options currently being considered move New Mark Commons to this new school.

The HOA has received the following email from Mike Wilhelm of the City of Rockville. (Note that this involves City-maintained sidewalks only. NMC’s project to repair sidewalks and paving in the common areas is slated for later in the year.):

Over the next 2 weeks, the City will have a small, 2 person crew from our concrete maintenance contractor, Olney Masonry on New Mark Commons public sidewalks addressing trip hazards. As you may have already noticed, City staff has painted the raised edge of concrete sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. The work is necessary to keep publicly maintained sidewalks in compliance with federal ADA requirements.

The three new Directors elected at the March 13 New Mark Commons Homes Association, Inc. Annual Meeting are: Alex Belida, Kathleen Moran, and David Schwartzman.

As specified by Articles VI and VII of the NMC Bylaws, the Organizational Meeting of the 2017-18 NMC Board of Directors and election of officers will take place on Thursday, March 16, at 7:30 PM, in the NMC Clubhouse.

Further details of both meetings will appear in the March electronic issue of the New Mark News, targeted for Sunday, 3/19.

New Mark Commons residents on March 2 got to hear directly from the candidates running for three open HOA Board of Directors’ seats, ahead of the March 13 Annual Meeting.
