Was it Ajay Goraya’s Chicken Biryani or Kamal Goraya’s Palak Paneer? Was it Raj Gupta’s Indian Dahl or Madeline Gupta’s Carrot and Pineapple Tzimmes? Matt Hagner’s Schweinebraten or Marilyn Johnson’s King Ranch Casserole? Julia Binder’s Zwiebelkuchen or Natalie Gora’s Olivye potato salad? Sandra Clark’s Tarte Tatin or Stephanie Bloom’s glazed apple bundt cake?
What exactly was it that brought everyone together last week for the International Dinner? Just reading the menu makes the mouth water!
One of these days, someone might even create a New Mark international recipe book! Meanwhile, more than 60Â neighbors met again this year to sample our diverse home cooking hankerings.
It was a true community effort. The core planners (see below) got loads of help from dozens of others to set up the tables Friday night and take them down again Saturday night. A big thanks to everyone who pitched in.
Below are the photos as proof of the fun. A big thanks to Morris Kaplan of Radburn Court for bringing his camera and sharing these images with us!
Ed’s note: The core dinner planners were: Kamal Goraya, the chief organizer; Madeline Gupta; Elyse Bernstein; Natalie Gora; Karin Boychyn; and Pat Reber. Ajay Goraya kept the bar going and Alex Belida emceed and called the tables to dine.Â
